Mad About Plaid

Mad About Plaid

Ironically, this post title was also the name of a case study I had to write a report on the same week I took these pictures however that report was on the trials Burberry faced and this post has absolutely nothing to do with that.

Plaid has been a staple wardrobe essential for fall seasons, but now it is pretty much everywhere. In NYC, it seems every single type of girl and every store has a variation of black and white checkered or plaid pants and a sketchy tube top to pair with it. Depending on the variation or color, width, and pattern details, plaid really is a seasonally and aesthetically diverse pattern. Although I didn’t style my checkered pants in this post (yes I have a pair), I did style a black and white checker print piece. Which take on the plaid look do you like better? I think a wide checker print is perfect for summer by being super reminiscent of picnic blankets. Especially when the color/or black lines are paired with a predominantly white background it is perfectly chic for the summer months. The formfitting of this thrifted pencil dress is super summery. To prevent myself from looking long in this mid calf dress I accentuated my upper waistline with a broad red embroidered belt. A summer staple, I accessorized with a wide brim floppy hat from American Eagle and finished the look off with my Jeffrey Campbell platforms.

My second look is a power suit hybrid. I thrifted the entire look, because I mean, when do I not wear a primarily thrifted look. I am all about eco friendly fashion if you haven’t noticed. I am wearing a brown and maroon hounds tooth patterned blazer with shoulder pads. I paired this with a narrow checker print pair of dress pants I thrifted back in June because the color schemes complement each other without matching too much. Brown is a good neutral for any season. Underneath to pick up the maroon accents I wore a purple lace cami. (If you read this POST, you know how I love this color of the year, a little TOO much and was eager to style this piece) For this look I slipped into yet another pair of Jeffrey Campbell Platforms. (Yes I have some wardrobe staples, shhhh, I know!)
